We spoke to the top scorer in January to find out how his season has gone so far.

Friday Night Interview
S Anderson

After scoring 7 goals in 2 games in January, Huntingdon Town's Corey Kingston picked up the UCL Goalscoring Award for January. We spoke to Corey shortly after it was announced he had won the award.

UCL: How have you found this season in the UCL Division One after joining Pinchbeck from Langtoft United in the PDFL Prem last season?

Corey: I joined Pinchbeck at the beginning of this season from Langtoft United who were in the PDFL Prem last season. I Was contacted by Ian Dunn after playing against them twice last season, he wanted me to join them for their first season in the UCL. Unfortunately it didn’t work out for 1 reason or another. But I was given the opportunity to sign for my childhood club Huntingdon Town.

UCL: How have you found this season in the UCL Division One after playing in the PDFL Prem with Langtoft United last season?

Corey: It’s a lot tougher then I thought it would be, a lot more physical and playing against players my own ability now which makes me enjoy this standard. Also I like the fact I’m walking into the unknown as I haven’t played against these clubs before so it’s a great and new experience for myself.

UCL: 7 goals in 2 games is some month! What's brought on this rich vein of form in January?

Corey: I feel it’s just starting to click now at Huntingdon Town, I think it's down to the fact my gaffer (Jimmy Brittan) has showed faith in me, giving me the opportunity.

UCL: What's your personal aims for the rest of the season with 14 games remaining?

Corey: My aim is to help Huntingdon Town continue climbing the table and to hopefully score more goals, show my worth and prove to myself I can compete at this level.

UCL: A competive game tomorrow against 7th place Lutterworth Town, who sit 3 points ahead of you at present, what are you expecting from the game?

Corey: I’ve played them twice this season. Once for Pinchbeck which we drew, and the second time for Huntingdon Town which we lost. I have to say Lutterworth Town have a lot of quality in their team and will make it extremely hard for us, hopefully we will do all we can tomorrow to get the 3 points and climb the league table.

Corey is looking to continue his rich reign of form tomorrow when his Huntingdon Town take on Lutterworth Athletic.
