Raunds eventually ran out comfortable winners but they had to battle back from a one goal deficit in a game where they were generally dominant.  Mason Thomas had a couple of opportunites for Raunds in the first ten minutes but was unable to hit the target before Bourne scored against the run of play in the 17th minute.  A cross from James Zealand found an unmarked Jack Humphries at the far post and he scored with a neat volley.  Despite generally being on the back foot Bourne could have been two up after 35 minutes when Craig Rook found Humphries who squared the ball to George Couzens but his wild shot missed the target comfortably.  Raunds almost equalised in first half stoppage time when a Karl King pass created an opportuity for the lively Nick Harrison which required a good save from Alex Brown.

The first Raunds chance of the second half came after just 15 seconds when a Thomas shot forced Brown into conceding a corner with a rather uncertain save.  After 52 minutes a goalmouth scramble saw the Bourne post come to their rescue.  Dan Porter's shot as the ball rebounded to him struck the underside of the bar before hitting a defender on the back and going in.  Three minutes later a hooked volley from from Thomas forced another fine save from Brown.  Bourne were being restricted to just occasional breaks but on one of these Couzens played the ball wide before sprinting for the return ball only to fail narrowly to turn the ball in at the far post.  Raunds substitute Dave Townsend was creating plenty of problems for Bourne on the left wing and he tried a delicate lob which Brown did well to push away for a corner after 72 minutes.  From the corner another goalmouth scramble saw Townsend force the ball over the line from a yard for what proved to be the winning goal.  With five minutes remaining Porter tried a hopeful lob from near the halfway line.  Brown appeared to have everything under control but inexplicably allowed it thorugh his hands and into the net to make it 3-1.  As the clock reached 90 minutes Townsend again burst into the area but saw his shot blocked.  However the ball was returned to him from wide only for him astonishingly to put the over an open goal from three yards out.
